Sablayan is a first class Municipality in the Province of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. According to 2010 projected, it has a population of 90,000 people. It has a total land area of 2,188.80 square kilometers, making it the largest municipality in the Province.
Sablayan has a lot of tourist destination like Apo Reef, Pandan Island, Mt. Iglit, Mindoro Pines, Libuao Lake, Siburan Virgin Forest, Caves, Park, Resorts, Falls, and a lot more. That's why it is known to be the most visited town in the province.

Dugoy Festival
This Festival shows how graceful and talented the Sablayan people are. This composed of street dancing competitions, talent search and beauty contests. This event is so refreshing that can relieve your stressed mind and body and this is celebrated every 19th day of January. This is theis major festival that Sablayan celebrating.
Apo Reef Natural Park
One of the best dive spots in the world. Apo Reef is the largest atoll-like reef in the country. It has no less than 500 species of corals both soft and hard. And it also has a very refreshing protected beauty of nature and one of the best destination to unwind and to enjoy this coming summer.
Pandan Grande Island
One of the best island in the Philippines were you can enjoy and have peaceful mind while staying at the island. The white beach isles are surrounded by palms, unspoilt forest that offers nature’s treasures. One may take a trek through the island’s forest and watch different colorful species of birds. It is also one of the most visited island of the province.
Mt. Iglit-Baco National Park
One of the most important biodiversity sites in the island of Mindoro and home to the Mangyans, particularly the tribe of Tao-Buhids, and biologically important flora and fauna notably the Bubalus Mindorensis or the Tamaraw, which are found only in Mindoro.
Mindoro Pines
Dubbed as the “Little Baguio of Mindoro”. Experience the sweat drifting and exhilarating trek to the summit of the Pag-asa Mountains where the Mindoro endemic pine tree species, Pinus Mercussi, thrives. A relaxing place with the fresh air and were you can see the grand view of Sablayan and other parts of Occidental Mindoro.
Libuao Lake
Situated inside the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm. One of the finest and cleanest inland body of water in the country where you can enjoy fishing, bird watching, picnicking and canoeing. (Sablayan.net)
Siburan Virgin Forest
Siburan has 5,000 hectares of old growth or primary forest, which is the largest tract of contagious remaining virgin forest in the whole Mindoro Island. Around 14 hectares of this lies next to Libuao Lake. Siburan Forest is a home to different plants and animals. There are 31 kinds of birds, including the endemic Mindoro Imperial Pigeon, Mindoro Tarictic Hornbill, Mindoro Bleeding Heart and the Black-hooded Coucal. More than 8 species of mammals, like Pygmy Fruit Bat and Warty Pig and about 80 species of tropical plants and hardwoods can also be found in the area. (Sablayan.net)
Parola Park
Also known as Presing Park named after the wife of former Mayor Loreto Urieta during his term. This Mountain Park was served as the setting of a historic watchtower and cannon built in 1861 against Muslim pirates and intruders ho used to raid the area. Round the clock watchers and defenders stationed thereat signal or warn the people to hide while launching volleys of cannon fires to defend the town. Today, a lighthouse and an old cannon could still be found there. The park offers the best sunset view in town. (Sablayan.net)
Lumang Simbahan (Old Church)
Located at the foot of “Bundok Bayan”, at Barangay Poblacion. The old church is a 16th century antiquated legacy of the Spanish missionaries, here lime or “apog” as used as cement for walling. Some of old folks believed that in the olden times, before the interior reconstruction of the church, there used to be underground dwellings for nuns and a tunnel at the back of the church that led to the lighthouse of the nearby mountain park.
The people also believe that the tunnel as used by the Japanese soldiers during the World War II. (Sablayan.net)
Malatongtong Falls
Located at Barangay Burgos, about 37 kilometers south of the ton proper. A 20 foot falls with scenic verdant forest backdrop rushes into a natural crystal clear pool towards more miniature falls flowing into the river. The falls got its name from the word “tongtong” meaning to “to step” on top of the big stones. (Sablayan.net)
